VP of Human Resources McQuade: Pay During Quarantine or Isolation Policy

Dear Staff Colleagues,

We appreciate all of your extraordinary efforts to support our mission of teaching and scholarship during these times. Your contributions to creating a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty and staff do not go unnoticed. I am confident we will continue to share this responsibility and be accountable to one another over the months to come.

New Temporary Policy: Pay During Quarantine or Isolation

To support a safe and healthy environment and encourage staff members to seek the appropriate care to quarantine or isolate if needed, a new temporary pay policy is going into effect tomorrow. From August 1 through December 2020, staff members will have access to up to 10 COVID-19 leave days. These days can be used if staff members are unable to work because of a medically directed quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19 for themselves or an immediate family member for whom they provide care.

Utilizing COVID-19 Leave Days

In order to utilize COVID-19 leave days, eligible staff members may request the days as described below and must also provide information from a medical provider indicating the need to isolate or quarantine. 

  • Non-exempt staff members must provide a note from a medical provider to their manager /supervisor and submit their hours in UltraTime using the new Emergency Absence Hourly (EAH) code. 
  • Exempt staff members must fill out the COVID-19 Leave Days Form and provide a note from a medical provider to their manager/supervisor. This form will be available starting Monday, August 3 on the homepage of hr.nd.edu.
