Dear Staff Colleagues,
Now that Father Jenkins has announced dates for the spring semester, we want to provide information regarding how we will evaluate extending the COVID-19-related staff accommodations offered during the fall semester to those who were approved to work remotely due to medical or other reasons.
We anticipate extending most, if not all, of these accommodations through the spring semester. At the same time, we recognize that departments and units may have different needs next semester, and we hope that our experience this fall will make some more comfortable with returning to work on campus.
We are designing a streamlined process to allow those with existing accommodations to indicate whether they want their accommodation extended through the spring semester. If so, their request will be reviewed by their respective dean or vice president and, assuming the administrative burden of the request is acceptable and the reason for the accommodation continues, the accommodation will be extended.
We will also open the process for new applicants, just as we did for the fall semester. The Office of Institutional Equity will follow up directly with those who were granted accommodations for the fall semester and will communicate the process for new applications for the spring semester in the near future. This accommodation process does not apply to those staff who were asked by their department or supervisor to work remotely in an effort to de-densify campus.
